Kirwans Hut is a remote backcountry hut tucked into the hills above Reefton in the Victoria Forest Park, reached via the historic Kirwans Track. The route follows old gold-mining trails through beech forest and steep ridgelines, offering a strong sense of West Coast history and isolation as you climb steadily toward the alpine basin where the hut sits. Once at the hut, trampers find a basic but well-sited shelter surrounded by rugged terrain and expansive views on clear days.
