Trip Grades
Members and those others joining club trips should be aware of the grade of trip as noted on the trip schedule and discuss with the trip leader their ability to complete the trip successfully. Below is a guide to help you understand the grading:

Medium-Fit (MF) | Tracks and routes | Quicker | Regular | 8 – 10 hours |
Fit (F) | Tracks and routes | Quick | Some | 7 – 11 hours |
Fitness Essential (FE) | All terrain | Extremely quick | Some | 9 – 12 hours |
Trip Routes
There are a variety of routes that we can attempt in the club and below is a description of each of them so you are aware of what is involved on a club trip. Again if you unsure of your ability just have a chat with the trip leader or the Chief Guide:

Mountain | Requires skills equivalent to alpine instruction course level (ice axe, crampons & rope skills) | |
Hunt | Hunting expedition with firearms or bows (FAL required) | |
Nav | Tramp with an emphasis on navigation skills. Expect the unexpected! | |
Training | Instruction courses-may be run by the club or external organizations | |
Kayak | River kayak trip | |
Cycle | Mountain biking trip | |
Rock | Rock climbing trip | |
Tube | River travel in a truck inner tube or similar | |
Run | Mountain Running | |
Trapping | Overnight tramp, trap baiting and clearing | |
Volunteer | Day or overnight tramp for hut cleaning and maintenance. |
